Bir gün bilgelik yiyecek ve zenginlik birlikte bir yolculuğa çıktılar. Yolda bir ağacın altında tembel tembel yatmakta olan bir adama rastladılar. Adam onları selamlayıp sordu:
– Nereye gidiyorsunuz?
– Yaşayacak bir yer arıyoruz.
– Servet benim yanımda yaşayabilir. Bu zamandan en önemli şey para-pul çünkü.
Adamın bu sözü üzerine servet:
– Sen aptal bir adamsın. Çünkü bilgelik olmadan ben senin elinde ancak bir kaç ay dayanabilirim.
Böylece yollarına devam ettiler ve yolun kenarında yemek yiyen başka bir adamla karşılaştılar. Aralarında benzer bir konuşma geçti, ama budefakinin tercihi sağlıktan yana oldu.
“Sen zeki bir adam değilsin” dedi yiyecek. “Eğer bilgelik olmasa, beni kısa zamanda bozar tüketirsin”
Yolda karşılaştıkları üçüncü adam, tarlasında çalışıyordu. O da nereye gittiklerini sorduğunda yaşayacak yer aradıklarını söylediler. Bu adam bilgeliği seçti. Ama hem servet hem de sağlık bilgeliğin yanında adamla birlikte yaşamaya karar verdi.
Çünkü benim emanet olduğumu ancak bilge insanlar bilir ve ancak onlar benim değerimi gerçekten takdir ederler diye izah etti sağlık.
“Benim yerimde sabırla çalışıp israf etmeden harcayan birisinin yanı olabilir” dedi servet.
Böylece herkes mutluluk içinde yaşadılar.
